My story

Looking Life Through a Window

In my practice, I delve into the intersection of observation and abstraction. While my subjects often stem from the tangible—objects, people, nature—I consciously avoid repetition and literal representation. Instead, I allow each work to evolve organically, guided by intuition and a willingness to discover. The painting itself becomes an active participant in the process, influencing its own direction as much as I do.

My approach is rooted in time, patience, and experimentation, resulting in outcomes that are rarely predictable. What begins as uncertainty can lead to moments of clarity; what initially appears as failure often becomes a catalyst for something unexpectedly vital. Each piece embodies a layered accumulation of trial, error, insight, and transformation.

I work on multiple paintings simultaneously, shifting between them to sustain momentum and perspective. This rhythm prevents stagnation and fosters a dialogue between works, allowing ideas to intertwine. Stepping away from a painting that feels prematurely resolved often uncovers new possibilities upon my return—fresh eyes can turn hesitation into resolution.

Ultimately, my process embodies a balance of embracing ambiguity while seeking form. Each work reflects a journey—a negotiation between control and surrender, clarity and uncertainty, structure and openness.
